Where BTB Language Solutions receives, maintains, or transmits Protected Health Information (PHI) on behalf of a Covered Entity, as those terms are defined under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and its implementing regulations, BTB Language Solutions operates as a Business Associate and complies with all applicable Business Associate obligations under HIPAA and the HITECH Act. We enter into Business Associate Agreements (BAAs) with all applicable Covered Entity clients prior to handling any PHI. In the event of a breach of unsecured PHI, we will notify affected Covered Entities without unreasonable delay and within no more than 60 calendar days of discovery, in accordance with the HIPAA Breach Notification Rule. Our contracted translators and interpreters who handle PHI are likewise bound by appropriate confidentiality and, where required, Business Associate obligations.

BTB Language Solutions may share information with contracted translators or interpreters who are bound by strict confidentiality obligations and who require access to the information to perform assigned services. We may also share information with secure payment processors or service providers that support our operations. We may disclose information when required to do so by law or in response to valid legal requests.

We retain personal and health information only for as long as necessary to complete translation services, fulfill contractual obligations, comply with legal requirements, and resolve disputes. Upon request, and subject to applicable legal obligations, clients may request deletion of their information.
